Abigail loves to wave to everyone she passes on the sidewalks of New York City. With each cheerful wave, it feels as though the entire city brightens and even the busiest New Yorkers can’t help but pause and return her joyful smile. In these simple moments of innocence and kindness, Abigail treats everyone equally, without expectation or judgment. Her humble spirit has inspired us the importance of preparing her for for whatever path she chooses, rather than trying to shape the path for her.
What are Abigail's favorite activities?Dancing, dabbling in piano (mostly hitting the loud keys), gardening and planting seeds (and digging them back up), leaping off objects that are definitely too high for parental comfort, swimming, running through sprinklers, rhyming everything with “banana,” and dominating the memory game and Chutes and Ladders. She builds skyscrapers out of blocks—just to unleash her inner demolition expert later. And, of course, she’s become a bookworm by necessity, since she does not know the wonders of TV.
How would $25,000 impact your family?Winning $25k would be an incredible honor and opportunity. While we are fortunate not to be in urgent need, this prize would allow us to save for college and causes that reflect our values and help our child grow into a caring, curious, and community-minded person. We would use part of the funds to create memorable learning experiences for our child—exploring music, art, and perhaps travel to a new places. We would also set aside some to donate reaching the importance and joy of generosity.
Colossal is a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need. Through online competitions like Toddler of the Year, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark while also making a big impact.
