Hannah has hydranencephaly, a rare neurological condition, so most of her brain was destroyed in utero. But her wonderful personality still shines through! She greets her mom, dad, and brother with a smile most mornings, happy to start a new day. Hannah has an amazing team of nurses and therapists around her, and she absolutely plays favorites. Her attitude is great for most of them. She is strong, and determined to prove all the so-called experts wrong and to continue defying expectations.
What are Hannah's favorite things to do?Hannah loves looking up at the stars. Whether it's going outside to check out the night sky or using the projector in her room, it usually makes her smile and laugh. She also loves dancing. Hannah needs assistance with that, but when we play songs and help her move around, she is very happy. She has cortical visual impairment, and red is one of the easiest colors for her to see. Partly for that reason, her favorite stuffed animals to hold are Clifford the Big Red Dog and Elmo.
What would your family do with $25,000?We adopted Hannah when she was three weeks old, and learned of her diagnosis two days after she was first placed with us. Several incredible organizations have supported our family during this journey, and we'd like to give back to them. This includes A Wish With Wings, the Ronald McDonald House, and SMU Volleyball.
