She has the same zest for life that her liver donor had. She, along with the medical heroes at AdventHealth, are destined to forever change the lives of babies yet-to-be-born with new Universal Newborn Screening. Mattie exists within a dimension higher than mom & dad, as she passed away many times before miraculously conjuring the will to survive. Mattie has accomplished more than many will in a lifetime as “Mattie’s Law” unanimously passed the Florida senate and is gaining traction federally!
What are Mattie's favorite things to do?Born with perfect hands, the loss of 5 fingers after her liver transplant complications only inspired her to want to take on guitar and drums as a 3 year old. While she struggles to open a bag of Doritos, she can jam out to bring joy and tears to everyone who has ever been blessed with her presence. She is a tomboy with the grace and politeness of an angel - whether she’s teaching other babies to swim with her, jump with her, sing, or devour 2 hot dogs like a Nathan’s contest.
What would your family do with $25,000?We will donate 15K to AdventHealth for Children in Orlando to help other families fighting the battle of their lives. We stayed 182 nights with Mattie in the hospital, and we now know how to make it survivable. Parents need mini fridges and blow-up beds. The warrior pediatric patients need monitors on the ceilings to watch as they’re strapped in to tubes, wires and machines. The other 10K will go toward the federal adoption of "Mattie’s Law" - saving more then 50 precious babies each year.
